Following the Spring Break, Team Cal Simraceway got back to work on its latest FSAE racer, the B13. UC Berkeley’s FSAE West challengers put both the B13 and its predecessor, the B12, through their paces at Sonoma Raceway’s Turn 7 runoff area and posted some images from the day on their blog. Last week a brand new batch of lucky prize winners converged on the Simraceway Performance Driving Center at Sonoma Raceway for an all-expenses-paid, two-day automotive extravaganza. From the karting track, to the rigs, to the paddock, to the full raceway, much fun was had–and many new skills were learned–by Simraceway players from around the world.

As the launch of Race to the Weekend 11 signals the start of another exciting journey to a prestigious Sunday Race-Off, we’re looking back at last week’s show-piece races–and a special appearance by Radio Le Mans commentator, the one-and-only John Hindhaugh.

This weekend the Palatov D4 returns to Sonoma Raceway for the Sunday Race-Off A and B finals, which you can watch live on Simraceway TV. However the racer’s last trip to Sonoma wasn’t that long ago–a sunny Spring day last year that saw the Simraceway Physics Team and Palatov Motorsports engineers working together to perfect our virtual D4 at the Simraceway Performance Driving Center. So, in a month when we’re celebrating everything about our one-in-a-million school, testing facility, and prize venue, we thought we’d post some great shots of the PDC hosting Dennis Palatov’s ultra-lightweight super kart. Simraceway has partnered with the Formula SAE team at UC Berkley to assist its budding engineers and drivers as they develop and race their B12 car in the 2012-2013 season. In a previous post we covered the early stages of their preparation, including the all-important driver selection, and we now join Team Principal Shin Scott and his FSAE team as they continue to ready the car and drivers for the grand final in Nebraska.
Simraceway has begun work on its new IndyCar game and who better than four-time champion Dario Franchitti to help our own expert drivers and developers ensure it’s the most authentic IndyCar experience ever released? The triple winner of the Indianapolis 500 joined our Head of Racing Physics, Nico Rondet, at the Simraceway Performance Driving Center recently to perform simultaneous shakedowns of his DW12 Target Chip Ganassi Racing car and our virtual creation.
