June 24th saw the electrifying climax of our 2012 IZOD IndyCar at Indianapolis Event—the first in a brand new generation of Simraceway contests that culminate in live, winner-takes-all battles for exclusive prizes—and as the finalists lined up on the grid, no doubt dreaming of meeting Dario Franchitti, few could foresee just how dramatic the next 40 laps of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway would be.
Simraceway has begun work on its new IndyCar game and who better than four-time champion Dario Franchitti to help our own expert drivers and developers ensure it’s the most authentic IndyCar experience ever released? The triple winner of the Indianapolis 500 joined our Head of Racing Physics, Nico Rondet, at the Simraceway Performance Driving Center recently to perform simultaneous shakedowns of his DW12 Target Chip Ganassi Racing car and our virtual creation.
As you may have seen in Dario Franchitti’s post-qualifying interview with Simraceway, he was a little concerned about the pace of the team after only making 16th place on the grid for this year’s Indy 500. It looked like he would have an uphill battle on his hands before the race, but the team–and the guys at Honda–had been working hard behind the scenes.
They brought some developments to the engine just in time and, by the time race day came around, the car felt quicker, enabling Dario to produce consistently fast laps as he closed on the front runners and, ultimately, took the checkered flag. Read on to discover how Dario himself saw things unfold in our exclusive post-race video!
Dario Franchitti may be used to winning at Indianapolis after three victories in six years, but few of us will ever get the chance to experience glory at The Brickyard. That’s why Simraceway has launched a brand new free-to-enter Event, which is taking place at its recently-released virtual Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
Congratulations to Dario Franchitti on his historic third Indianapolis 500 victory, achieved yesterday at the 96th running of the world-famous event. The Simracway pro driver is now only one win away from joining A. J. Foyt, Al Unser, and Rick Mears at the very top of the pile—and who’d back against him securing more triumphs at The Brickyard, given yesterday’s battling performance.
When we announced the exciting news about our new INDYCAR game last month we mentioned that we would be launching an exclusive range of preview content in anticipation of its release. Well with the 96th Indianapolis 500 taking place on Sunday, we’re proud to announce two very special additions to Simraceway’s glitteringline-up as we build up to the big event.
With the world-famous Indianapolis 500 only a few days away, our good friend Dario Franchitti is deep in preparation for the monumental event. So whilst Dario gets himself geared up to try and make it three-in-a-row for Simraceway, we’ve decided to take a look back at the last two Indy 500 races that ended so triumphantly for our drivers.
