Congratulations to Dario Franchitti on his historic third Indianapolis 500 victory, achieved yesterday at the 96th running of the world-famous event. The Simracway pro driver is now only one win away from joining A. J. Foyt, Al Unser, and Rick Mears at the very top of the pile—and who’d back against him securing more triumphs at The Brickyard, given yesterday’s battling performance.
Despite starting 16th on the grid and, at one stage, falling to the back of the field, Dario stayed patient to get to the front, and even survived a late scare when he and second-placed Takuma Sato touched on Turn 1 of the final lap. Against the odds, though, it was the Scot who took the checkered flag to add another chapter to the history books.
We’re proud to be associated with two guys that have given so much to the world of motorsport and delighted to be celebrating an Indy 500 victory with a Simraceway pro driver for the third year in succession.
Congratulations Dario—we hope yesterday’s win is the first of many this season as you chase your fifth IZOD IndyCar Series title.
